Case StudiesMr and Mrs Borst moving from Munich, Germany to Henley, EnglandMr Borst, a senior executive with an international company, was transferred to England from Germany with his family and needed to complete the move and settle in before the start of the academic year. The UK office of his company, based in Windsor, outsources its international relocation to Anglo Domus, who provide a custom VIP package for all relocated personnel. Anglo Domus was contacted less than four weeks before the moving date. The family had to move at very short notice because of the demands of Mr Borst's position with the company, and Mrs Borst had to handle all the details of the move. The Borsts have two children aged 7 and 10 and wished to send them either to a German or an international school. WEEK 1Anglo Domus assigned a client executive to the Borsts to expedite their relocation in as short a time as possible. A meeting with Mrs Borst was immediately set up to discuss the family's requirements and the available options. A personal profile of the family was built up based on the family's details, lifestyle and home in Germany, and their future requirements. Types of housing and possible areas for schools and houses were examined. The Borsts required a house with 5 bedrooms, a garden and garage to lease for a 2-3 year period. Mrs Borst was taken on a personal one day orientation tour of the most suitable areas and schools. Anglo Domus also presented the Borsts with a UK Introduction Pack (containing details of the English social, medical, educational, financial and legal systems) and fact sheets on additional areas of interest. The main priority was to be near a good school. Anglo Domus' own educational advisor talked over the alternatives with Mr and Mrs Borst and, following a number of school visits, they decided that the International School at Culham would be the best option for their children. It was decided that the most suitable area to live would be within a 20 minute drive of the school, but near the M4 motorway for Mr Borst to travel to work. By the end of the first week the relocation requirements were in place and a property search of central/south Oxfordshire was completed. WEEK 2The following week Anglo Domus previewed the available properties. A shortlist of 14 houses was drawn up and two days of viewing tours were agreed with the Borsts. Anglo Domus made all the necessary arrangements with the property agents. The Borsts were picked up at the airport by Anglo Domus, taken round the properties and shown around the local area. During the tour we took the opportunity to introduce the Borsts to some of the culture of England, giving them information on healthcare, education, housing, shopping etc. By the end of a busy day viewing eight properties, with a reviving break for lunch by the river Thames in Abingdon, the Borsts had seen two houses which they particularly liked. There were six properties to view on the second day, one of which also looked like a possibility. WEEK 3Having taken the weekend to think about it, the Borsts chose a delightful house in a rural South Oxfordshire village near Henley. Anglo Domus negotiated the lease, achieving a reduction in the rental price and terms of deposit which saved the Borst's company over 10% per year. A draft tenancy agreement was examined by Anglo Domus who referred a few minor legal points to the personnel/legal department of Mr Borst's company. Anglo Domus expedited the exchange of references in the UK and Germany by fax, and the tenancy agreement was agreed and sent by courier to Mr Borst's company for signature. The lease and necessary supporting documents were couriered back to the agent and the move in inventory was supervised by us. During this week Anglo Domus obtained a number of quotations from several international movers on behalf of the Borsts and arrangements were made for connections of all services and utilities to the new property. By the end of the third week everything was in place and a moving date had been set for the middle of the following week. WEEK 4Anglo Domus booked temporary accommodation for the Borsts at a local hotel. Local maps and instructions were faxed to the German removal firm with a clear, convenient meeting point near the property. Mr and Mrs Borst and their children arrived by car on the day of the move and were welcomed at the house by their Anglo Domus executive who introduced them to the property and showed them how everything worked, such as the appliances, heating, water, UK electrical fittings and television. The removal firm arrived with German precision and after a long day's work everything was completed successfully. Anglo Domus provided the Borsts with an Area Introduction Pack including details and maps of all local facilities, amenities and transport. The following weekend we escorted the Borsts on a local orientation tour.
ConclusionThe Borst family move to England went smoothly and without difficulty. Mr Borst was able to concentrate on his new position without any unnecessary interruptions or stress; Mrs Borst and the children found the whole move exciting, interesting and enjoyable. The children were happily enrolled in their new school ready for the following term. Mr Borst's company was extremely satisfied and continues to use Anglo Domus for their international relocations.
